About the RBDA

The Light Brown Apple Moth - and aerial spraying

Prodded by the federal government, the California Dept. of Food and Agriculture has declared an emergency to try to eradicate the Light Brown Apple Moth (LBAM) by aerial spraying Monterey Bay and San Francisco Bay counties on an ongoing basis beginning June 1, 2008. We can hardly recall a situation where so many millions of people, animals and the environment are to be subjected to chemicals of unknown but almost certainly harmful effect for such an extended period of time, for so little reason and for so little (if any) benefit.
